May Recap
As we conclude the month of May, we would like to share a brief overview of classroom learning and school-wide highlights.
Throughout May, students engaged in an enriching study of the continent of Antarctica. Classrooms explored the region’s unique climate, icy landscape, and distinctive wildlife. Students learned about animals such as penguins, polar bears, Arctic foxes, and walruses, focusing on how each species adapts to survive in extreme cold environments. Discussions also included how these animals obtain food and the importance of their natural habitats.
Students also examined the limited plant life found in Antarctica, including moss, lichens, and algae, gaining an understanding of how certain forms of vegetation are able to exist even in such harsh conditions.
A special highlight of the month was the celebration of Mother’s Day. Students created thoughtful, handmade gifts in honor of their mothers and loved ones. Our Mother’s Day Tea event was well attended and provided a warm opportunity for families to gather, enjoy student performances, and connect with one another in celebration.
Looking ahead to June, students will begin their study of the state of California. Learning will include exploration of state landmarks, geography, and notable locations that help define our local region. In addition, we look forward to our upcoming “Donuts with Dad” celebration, which will provide another opportunity for family engagement and community connection.
We appreciate your continued partnership and look forward to a wonderful month ahead filled with learning and school-wide activities.
