Our fully trained and qualified teachers offer a caring, loving environment for our babies.  It is nurturing, stimulating, and soothing with lots of hugs and cuddle-time, as well as one-on-one interaction.  Our dedicated staff pays close attention to your child’s needs, surrounding him/her with warmth and security.  Our ratio in this room is one teacher for every 4 infants. Our infant program provides activities that stimulate the age-appropriate developmental process.  The materials in our infant room are designed to promote your child’s learning progression.  Their interaction with the other infants is an essential part of the development of your child’s ability to build social relationships. We believe in the importance of our infants spending time outdoors each day, as this enriches their development as well.  This is a key component in our program for your child to experience the sights and sounds of the outdoor environment. Another key element to our infant program is our partnership with parents. Communication between our infant teachers and you, the parent, is essential.  The infant schedule and all of the many stages that your infant go through are discussed with you in great detail.  We work as a team in the development of your child.  Each day you will receive a report which details the events of your child’s day.

The Walking Infant Program at Stars Montessori Academy is for toddlers 18 months to 24 months. This program is the next step in the care of your child as continuation from the infant room, bringing them through their development and preparing them for our Pre-Primary Program.  This program includes the social interaction of the infant room along with the development of sensory skills that coincide with the Montessori materials used at this stage. Our loving staff provides our walking infants with the nurturing that is essential to their proper growth and development.  Each day they are provided with activities to stimulate their development.   The children spend time outdoors daily and are encouraged to participate in activities that teach them to care for and respect our outdoor environment, as well as activities that promote large muscle-group coordination. You will be provided with a detailed report of your child’s activities daily.

This program is dedicated to children between the ages of 24-36 months or until toilet trained, whichever comes first. The materials are Montessori-based, and include sensorial, preliminary practical life activities, preliminary math, language and cultural activities which satisfy your child’s need for imitation, work, and order. Your child experiences satisfaction in learning to care for himself as more and more independence becomes possible for him. The activities are designed to provide your child with the skills they need to be successful in our Primary Program. The child will scoop, spoon, sort, grasp, make comparisons, and will be introduced to the concept of phonetic sounds and quantities. This helps them develop the small muscle skill that it takes to become a successful writer and the cognitive skill that he needs to feel fulfilled. Details on your child’s behavior and the activities that your child participated in during the day are provided to you in our daily report.

This environment prepares children ages 3 to 6 for elementary school and more, utilizing all Montessori materials. The multi-age classroom re-creates a family “real world” structure.  This program provides them the opportunity to enjoy the freedom to move around his environment and satisfy his inner needs for imitation, repetition, and movement through the following areas.

Practical Life
This is a link from home life to school.  Everything is left to right for pre-reading and pre-writing.  These activities will help the child with their gross- and fine-motor skills.

This area helps the child define their senses of touch, sight, smell, taste, and hearing.  Children learn through their senses.

Through this area, the child will learn to love and appreciate the skills necessary for counting, adding, multiplying and dividing in all areas of mathematics, including static, dynamic or decimal operations. Young children have a concrete mind and have not yet developed their abstract mind.

Sand paper letters and metal insets are just a few materials that were also created by Dr. Montessori.  Our children learn their letters the phonetic way… A: apple; B: baby, etc.

Cultural Materials
This area offers geography, history, botany, zoology, and human values. Your child will enjoy discovering his world and the world around him using his language, sensorial, and mathematical skills.

In addition to our Montessori curriculum, children have science experiments, water play days, cooking and baking, sports, Spanish, petting zoo, and much more.

“Free the child’s potential and you will transform him into the world…”
– Dr. Maria Montessori

The Montessori Method

“I did not know much about the Montessori  method.  As I learned more, I was surprised how it works! Kids were always busy learning and exploring!  My son was actually sitting and learning and enjoying!”
