January 2021 - Happy New Year!

In January we will be exploring the world around us and learning about the weather and how to dress accordingly. We will focus on the cold in our Winter, Ice & Snow theme, and the continent we will be exploring is Antarctica. Our activities will tie into the ice and snow and how it forms in some places and not others. The book we will read this month is The Mitten by Jan Brett which tells the story of animals staying warm inside of a mitten. We will talk about the artwork and the folktale influence of the story and learn about the animals inside The Mitten. We will also learn about hibernation in Zoology and why animals sleep when it gets too cold. A reminder that school will be closed for Winter Break from December 24th through January 3rd with school resuming on Monday January 4th, 2021.   Please note the school will also be closed on Monday January 18th, in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. We will be going to Extended Hours after Winter Break and so we will be open from 7:00AM to 6:00 PM Monday through Friday.
